Decomposers

what are they and what do they do?

a decomposer or a scavenger is a living thing that breaks down dead plants and animals or their waste. A decomposer usually lives in the soil or on a plant. Decomposers are good for the ecosystem, if decomposers weren't in the ecosystem plants would not get essential nutrients they need and dead matter and waste would pile up.

This is an example of a decomposer ( a snail )

Decomposers live in the soils or on plants.

Decomposers break down dead plants and animals. If there were no decomposers plants would not get the nutrients they need to survive.
