I have decided that I want to write about the various factors that Galileo used to devise his theory about the tides of the ocean. I find this to be interesting because kids will be able to picture in their heads that the waves go higher up on the beach sometimes then at other times in the day. There are plenty of ideas in the book that show simple scientific evidence of why this happens.
Galileo uses the idea of sun spots to show that the earth moves around the sun and this plays a factor in the tides of the ocean. By breaking down the ideas of gravity and the earths motion, the tidal highs and lows can be easily explained. This would also be a fun topic because there is a lot of potential for good illustrations. There is potential for pictures of sun spots, orbits, and the waves changing heights.
