Alfred Nobel was born in 1833, and died in 1896. He was raised partly in St.Petersburg, Russia, and partly in Stockholm, Sweden.
Alfred Nobel invented dynamite in 1866.
Alfred Nobel invented dynamite because he needed a new and improved way to blast rock. At first, if the nitroglycerin was even bumped, it could explode. Alfred mixed nitroglycerin with silica to form a paste like substance that was much more stable. The dynamite is put into a cartridge with a fuse to make it explode.
Nobel invented dynamite in Krummel Gessthacht, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
Unfortunately, during an experiment with dynamite, Nobel's brother was blown to pieces in one of Nobel's factories.
