Amelia Earhart

For my biography report I chose to write about Amelia Earhart. My first reason I chose Amelia Earhart is because I thought she would be very interesting because she made the choice to be an airplane pilot. Another reason why I chose Amelia Earhart is because I might want to be an airplane pilot when I grow up. The final reason I chose Amelia Earhart is because I wanted to learn about her life.

Amelia Earhart was born in her grandmother’s house on July 24 1897, in Atchison, Kansas. Their house was high on a hill. Amelia’s grandparents had a lot of money. But Amelia’s father had problems keeping his job. When Amelia was seven her dad finally had enough money to take her family to go see the World’s Fair in St. Louis, Missouri.

After Amelia went on a plane ride at an air show she made the choice to be an airplane pilot. Amelia was invited to fly across the Atlantic Ocean but just as a passenger to learn. Amelia’s teen age years were hard. Her Dad couldn’t keep his job, so the family split up. Amelia’s mother took Amelia and the girls to Chicago. Amelia went to Hyde Park High School in Chicago. After that Amelia trained to be a nurse aid at a hospital in Toronto.

Amelia wanted to prove that women can do everything men could do. Amelia was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. To fly across the globe Amelia needed a special plane called the Electra. Amelia needed two navigators with her. One of Amelia’s navigators couldn’t continue the flight with her. Some time before she disappeared Amelia opened the doors to the world and said, ‘’ You can do anything you wish to do.’’
