Cara Cara Orange Syrup

An amazing alternative to bottled, plain Jane, store bought syrup.


  • Juice of 3 Cara Cara navel oranges (about 1 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or pumpkin spice


In a small saucepan, combine orange juice and butter. Bring to a boil.

Add sugar and cook over medium heat until completely dissolved, stirring frequently, about 1-2 minutes.

Stir in vanilla and cinnamon (or pumpkin) until well blended.

Remove from the heat and let cool. The syrup will thicken as it cools.

Makes 8-10 servings.

Tip: For a thicker syrup, use more sugar; for thinner, use less.
