Experienced Psychotherapist and Social Worker
About Carmely Estrella
A privately practicing psychotherapist and social worker for more
than 30 years, Dr. Carmely Estrella applies a combined psychoanalytic
and psychodynamic approach. By balancing both methodologies, each of
which focuses on a different aspect of a person's unconscious and its
effects on actions, she offers clients insight into their behaviors and
the opportunity to alter those behaviors in the future. Dr. Carmely
Estrella guides clients in the application of these techniques via a
number of interpersonal strategies aimed at strengthening relationships.
Since entering private practice, Dr. Carmely Estrella has also served in a variety of public sector roles. As manager of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at Daniel Freeman Hospitals in Inglewood, California, she provided clinical services to individuals experiencing emotional and mental distress in the workplace. Previously, as senior medical social worker for Los Angeles County, she performed psychosocial assessments and treatments for patients at the University of Southern California Medical Center, as well as for patients' family members. In addition, Dr. Estrella assumed responsibility for orienting the Medical Center's fourth-year students to the philosophies and methodologies of social work. She now focuses exclusively on her private clients.
