King Arts Tech Talk

Simple Solutions

Vol. 1 Issue 6

Hello King Arts Staff,

We are just a few short weeks away from deploying the student iPads. We are all very busy and the idea of planning for the iPads may feel daunting. Today I am going to be showing you about the SAMR & TPAC models.  Both of these frameworks, TPACK and SAMR, will help guide you to the best intersection of curricular standards, sound pedagogy choices, and digital tool selections to directly enhance and support student learning.

Here is a short video to help you understand the SAMR model of Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. It is a way of thinking about how the lessons that you are already doing in class can be adapted (and possibly enhanced) with technology. The SAMR model can serve as a scaffolding blueprint towards technology integration in your classroom.

Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) is a framework that identifies the knowledge teachers need to teach effectively with technology. TPACK tries to identify what teachers need to know in order to integrate technology into their teaching.
