Monday, July 27th

ActivInspire at a Snail's Pace

8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

ActivInspire is software designed to work with the ActivBoards (and Promethean Boards and interactive projectors). It has many, many features and a wealth of potential for providing engaging interactive learning experiences for students. However, it can be a complicated program to master. This training is designed to introduce attendees to the tools of ActivInspire, provide examples of how the tools can be used to create interactivity in flipchart files, and give attendees an opportunity to explore and create within ActivInspire, while providing a supportive environment for those who may be apprehensive about the complexity of the program.

Bloomin' Apps

8:30 AM - 9:50 AM

Participants will explore CFBISD approved Apps and where they fit into Blooms 2 and the UBD model of Acquire>Making Meaning>Transfer. Student work will be shared to provide examples from different content areas. Participants will walk away with a list of tools that can be incorporated into their curriculum.

Discovery Education Board Builder

8:30 AM - 9:50 AM

“Discovery Education transforms classrooms, empowers teachers and captivates students by leading the way in providing high quality, dynamic, digital content”. C-FB provides Discovery Education access to teachers as well as students. In this session, participants will have the opportunity to explore the many facets of Discovery Ed, collect resources for use in their grade level and subject area, learn about the new Board Builder tool for students and teachers, and develop their own resources using the various Discovery Ed builder tools. Ideas for using DE as a “flipping the classroom” tool will be discussed as well.

Tuesday, July 28th

ActivInspire: Beyond the Basics

8:30 AM - 11:30 AM

This session is for advanced users of the ActivInspire software. Participants will learn how to create interactive flipcharts by learning how to use containers, actions, tool tips and other advanced skills. Teachers will walk away with flipcharts aligned with their curriculum.

PREREQUISITE: Participants should be able to comfortable with ActivInspire Basics which includes adding text, inserting images, and navigating browsers.

"Gaggle"-fy Your Classroom

8:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Participants will learn how Gaggle provides a safe digital learning environment for our 2nd – 8th grade students. This is not only a web communication tool but also provides an easy way to digitally manage classroom resources and student work. Gaggle can be used outside the classroom and on multiple platforms which provides 2nd-8th grade students with safe access to implement 21st century skills.

App Smashing is the concept of combining the products of multiple apps to develop a cohesive project. Attendees will become familiar with apps that lend themselves to app smashing activities, explore strategies for sharing and submitting student work, and develop an example of a student project using curriculum pieces from CoL. The session will also include strategies to support a multi-platform classroom (Android/iOS).

You Mean There's Something Other Than an iPad?!

Tools for Organization

Frustrated and overwhelmed with organizing emails, files, notes, websites, and more? Come to this session for some basic solutions that should work for you.

Participants will learn about technology tools to keep it all together in the classroom. There will be an introduction to a wide variety organizational tools for teachers.

"Understanding Your Who": Increasing Student Engagement

Profound learning happens when students are engaged, and engagement hinges on customized classroom experiences that address students' needs, interests, and values. Engaging experiences do not happen by chance; they are the result of student tasks designed around the 6 A’s (authenticity, academic rigor, applied learning, active exploration, adult connections, assessment practices). During this session teachers discover tools in which to design a framework which can be used to create engaging learning experiences for students.

Give a Book a Voice Through Book Buzzes!

8:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Use technology to learn how to create opportunities for students to analyze and summarize a book by creating a movie in the form of a book buzz! A variety of implementation tools such as planning sheets and rubrics will be provided. Prior to the session, participants are required to read 3 -4 children’s or young adult books (from a recommended list), and complete a writing assignment.

Future Skills Today:  Creativity in the 21st Century Classroom

iLearn: Creating a Digital Learning Environment

Communicating with Your Community via Social Media
