Dear Mr. Daken,

I am applying for the position of College Student Tech 1 in response to our meeting in the career center office at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering and I am taking several classes that have given me a lot of experience in the engineering field. As i have mentioned before, i do have several previous experiences throughout my highschool years. I have done various projects, from creating computer softwares, web pages, video games and simple computer programming. I gathered information on computer science and basic engineering since the beginning of highschool.

A specific project that i have worked on was to create a webpage that was an advertisement for the notorious and well known drink that you may know as Sprite. I helped develop a small webpage for them that consisted of using many complex programs such as Linux, Illustrator and C/C++. i had learned to use these because of the experience and knowledge that i had gathered from my previous classes that i had attended. I work excellently with others and would rather do this than work alone. I have many leadership skills and experiences that have helped me throughout the years with projects. This position came along with great challenges and responsibilities including managing work tasks, team communication, weekly & final reports, final design presentations, product demonstrations, and bill of materials.

I have noticed that Computer design is an important role of countless future industries and i am proud to announce that this is one of the many areas that i excel in. I believe I am a good candidate for your program and this position will be a perfect opportunity for me to create a place for myself in an exciting career and future with several important individuals. I would like the opportunity for an interview so that I can personally express my interest in your company.

Since a child I have always known what i had wanted to be in life. To be an innovator, a creator, and an imaginative person. I was always the creative type of child who just loved to explore new things in life and build. You would not believe it, but a game helped me realize what type of career that I would want to pursue in life. It helped me discover the joy of building, fixing, and creating.

A factor that played in my part of wanting to be an engineer was that my father was one. My father was in the Air Force and he worked with technology and on communications. I learned about what he does in his job and how fun what he does is and I was further intrigued by engineering and what it involves. Engineering became a career that I strived for as I progressed on in life.

As I grew and discovered the world around me, I learned many new concepts of design and structures and this just pushed me to pursue my curiosity even further. I took classes in highschool that were involved with engineering and I enjoyed this very much. I was introduced early to many new techniques and the interesting ways that people do engineering and how real world engineering was like. I learned what happened and what did not happen in the engineering fields and what a real engineer did.

As i had mentioned earlier, a dream of mine was to be an innovator and that is what becoming an engineer will make me. Although I have many qualifications to become a successful engineer, i would like to learn more and work hard to get a degree in engineering, and attending this excellent college is an amazing way to start.

Bruin Bash

The Bruin bash is an event in UCLA that celebrates all athletics and is held at the beginning of the first semester in September. The Bruin Bash has hosted many famous musicians including Bad Religion, LMFAO, the Yin Yang Twins and Kendrick Lamar.


The amazing legacy of the University of California at Los Angeles started  in 1919 offering two-year undergraduate teachers-training programs. Then it was known as UC's "Southern Branch". It had gotten the full name University of California at Los Angeles in 1927. Throughout the years, UCLA had developed its fame and glory in academics and athletics and is known for Psychology, Mathematics, and integrative Biology and Physiology majors.

Interesting Facts

The first open-heart surgery in the western United States is performed at UCLA Medical Center in 1956.

UCLA hosted gymnastics and tennis competitions for the 1984 Olympic Games and served as an Olympic Village.

In 2007 UCLA wins its 100th NCAA national championship.

A computer engineer, also called a software engineer, is responsible for developing, testing and evaluating the software that make computers work. They help in the development of new computer games, business applications or even in the design of entirely new operating systems.

A computer engineer is also be responsible for constructing and managing a computer system and supplying technical support.The job includes a variety of topics such as database design, systems analysis, critical thinking and technical writing.

Because of the vast expansion of technology in our society there is a huge demand for computer engineers, with the number of new positions doubling the number of computer engineering (CE) graduates each year.

The yearly salary for this job varies from $100,920 to $150,130 or more.
