An experienced physician, Charles Canver, MD, assists Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois, as the vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer. Before accepting his present position in 2012, he worked as vice founding chancellor and rector for Near East University. Further, Dr. Charles Canver supported the Near East University Hospital as chief executive officer and the Near East University School of Medicine as professor of surgery and chairman of the department of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery.
After earning his medical degree, Charles Canver, MD, prepared for his career by completing his internship in general surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Following that, he completed his general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residencies at the same institution. Continuing his education, Dr. Canver enrolled at the George Washington University School of Business, from which he earned his master of business administration in healthcare.
Dr. Canver is a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and both a certified physician executive and vanguard member with the American College of Physician Executives.
