Founder of Shifting Gears

Charles Goodman enjoys collecting classic cars, especially vehicles manufactured prior to World War II. In 2012, he formed a committee that included former members of Marin Sonoma Concours d’ Elegance and founded Shifting Gears, a two-day driving event in which drivers traveled through the San Francisco Bay Area, and other northern California locations, in 2013. The event runs annually, promoting awareness for vital causes like Myotonic Dystrophy and Roots of Peace and has helped raise over to $600,000.

Shifting Gears was not Charlie Goodman's first venture into philanthropy and civic work. As chairman of the Marin Sonoma Concours d’ Elegance, he led the fundraising efforts that resulted in over $500,000 donations to Hospice By The Bay. In 1991, he was elected Mayor of the Town of Ross, where he served three terms. In this position he was responsible for managing the town’s expenses and enforcing regulations to keep the integrity of the small town.

Charlie Goodman also serves on the board of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn, Indiana. He utilizes his strong business experience and ability to maintain valuable relationships within his community to generate vital funding for the museum and to conduct other events.
