    Career Description

The neurosurgeon is a specialized surgeon dealing with the surgeries of the nervous system. Neurosurgeons are physicians who specialize in correcting neurological problems through surgery. These can include back surgeries, removing brain tumors and other specialized neurological procedures. Many physicians and surgeons work long, irregular hours; over one-third of full-time physicians worked 60 or more hours a week according to surveys.

    Total Pay: $102,463 - $770,629                         Median: $387,171

    Job Requirements

Formal education and training requirements for physicians are among the most demanding of any occupation—4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and 3 to 8 years of internship and residency, depending on the specialty selected. A few medical schools offer combined undergraduate and medical school programs that last 6 rather than the customary 8 years.

Premedical students must complete undergraduate work in physics, biology, mathematics, English, and inorganic and organic chemistry. Students also take courses in the humanities and the social sciences. Some students volunteer at local hospitals or clinics to gain practical experience in the health professions.

    Letter of Recomendation

    Dear UCSF:

without any doubt in my mind, I believe that IB graduate Roberto Rovelo, should have admittance to your university. I have seen Roberto develop as a student and as a human over the course of the programme. He has proven to be very dedicated in his dreams and future goals. Based on what i have observed, becoming a neurosurgeon has been Roberto’s goal for many years.

Roberto Rovelo greatly deserves this letter of recommendation because he has proved that he is capable of handling many rigorous tasks that are handed to him in the academic field. He is also very skilled in the athletic field. Roberto is an enhanced, A-Class swimmer with a desire to achieve victory. His amount of determination and dedication is shown in his academic and sports life. Besides these accomplishments, Roberto has spent many countless hours volunteering at the Sierra Providence hospital.

Roberto has successfully completed high school and is more than ready to live up to your University's expectations. UCSF should not give a second thought taking a student who is not only ready, but interested in your studies. I highly recommend Roberto Rovelo, as one of your Universities acceptances. Thank you for your time.
