Judge Glenda Hatchett of TV’s Judge Hatchett is set to discuss issues parents across the country are facing Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Central High School gymnasium.
The event is part of Tuscaloosa City Schools’ Parents+, Parents in Learning United for Success.The program partners with local organizations to promote parent involvement in schools, including the West-Side Scholars Academy, the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa City Council PTA, Parent Leadership Academy, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Hatchett’s speech will outline the critical questions of how to most effectively parent and how parents can strive to be their best. The founder of Parent Power Now will also address solutions to improving life for young people in America. Hatchett is the author of the parenting book, Say What You Mean, Mean What You Say and Dare to Take Charge, a motivational book. Audio versions of both books will be available for purchase at the event; Hatchett will also be available to autograph her books. Upcoming events in the Parents+ series include a parenting rally Dec. 14, “Empowering Parents and Students on Rights and Responsibilities” on Jan. 25, 2014, and a Parent Leadership Academy event Feb. 15, 2014. A Reflections contest award ceremony will occur March 2014 at the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education.
All events are free and open to the public. Parents and students are invited to attend.
