Haikus are a form of poetry created in Japan, usually about nature. Haikus are often thoughtful poems, but they do not need to have a thoughtful mood. Haikus do not need to rhyme and are very short poems, containing only 17 syllables in 3 lines. It is a very simple style of poetry, but haikus can have a lot of meaning packed into the few words.
