$ Wages in Texas $
1.) First off, Fair wages refer to company practices that lead to sustainable wage developments.I chose fair wages because people in Texas have always had issues with one main problem- Minimum,fair,and unfair wages. Back then women even held protests for fair wages. It seemed important to me that everyone received equal and fair wages.
Face these facts!
Lets talk about the types of wages
- Annual= Occurring once every year.
- Poverty = The state of being extremely poor.
"The extreme poor live on less the US $1.25 a day. Many lack basic sanitation and clean drinking water; they're malnourished and suffer from lack of education." -Google
- Living wage = A wage that is high enough to maintain a normal standard of living.
- Minimum wage = the lowest wage permitted by law or by a special agreement (such as one with a labor union).
2.) The minimum wage in Texas is currently $7.25 per hour,making $63,510 annually. A full-time minimum wage employee earns $15,080 annually. "An employer of a tipped employee is only required to pay $2.13 an hour in direct wages if that amount plus the tips received equals at least the federal minimum wage, the employee retains all tips and the employee customarily and regularly receives more than $30 a month in tips." -Google. Now to let your brain calm down from all those facts and put it into a simple sentence, people want a higher minimum wage. So raising minimum wage will reduce poverty,help family breadwinners support their children,and have positive economic effects above and beyond lowering the poverty rate.
The living wage for the average family (2 adults, 3 children) is $21.93 hourly. $45,607 is the required annual income before taxes.
3.) Lastly, the highest typical hourly wage is for management- $42.43,while the lowest is for food preparation - $8.49. For a middle class citizen this would be 50% higher and lower than the median, which would mean the average middle class annual income is $25,500 to $76,500.
4.) Wages in general aren't fair because some people can always have fancy foods and clothes and afford to just shop around as much as they like because they make more monthly wage than a person who can only afford a few pieces of bread and only a pack of water and are drowning in bills and overdue fines and have mailbox full of bank notices,struggling to pay their rent. If everyone had the same annual wage there will be no people will to much or to little. Everyone will have the money to afford what they need and nobody will have to struggle poverty. The only way to ruin that is by stealing more than you have, making you have more and the rest have less, leading back to rich and poor, causing people to steal from each other making the equal system unbalanced. Well that old saying ,history repeats itself, just probably is true when it comes to making the world a Utopia.
