GYPSY MUSICAL WEEK

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

No concert band rehearsal this week due to the musical.
Pit Orchestra Monday-Wednesday 4 to 8pm
Thursday wear all black.  Report time 4pm show starts at 5th
Friday wear all black.  Report time 530 show starts at 7pm.
Saturday wear all black.  Report time 100pm two shows 2pm and 7 pm.  We will stay and have lunch compliments from the booster organization.  Please bring a case of bottle water.  No Indoor Drumline Rehearsal This week. 

Music in the Parks season is about to begin.  We will be spring cleaning the band room.I doing so, please make sure your locker is completely clean.  Also band leaders, our uniform parents have commented about the disorganization of the uniform room.  There were comments regarding the trash, items thrown into the room, and simple disregard/disrespect of the items.   This room must be cleaned up and reorganized by the end of the week.  Uniform manager will be responsible for c...hecking each garment bag to insure that students have all items correctly and neatly in their bags. Mrs. Barbara will be cleaning the tuxedo shirts soon.  Therefore, we need to make sure all shirts are in the proper place. Equipment managers, we will need to clean and organize the instrument room and piano room. Color guard your room will need to be cleaned up.  Please take home all clothing.  Librarian. ..the music library needs to be cleaned as well.  Please be sure to put all music that is in the boxes on the floor away.

Classroom Objectives:

This week we will focus on  the 12 Major Scale Test.  The test will be next Monday and Tuesday.  Students will work to have all 12 major scales memorized.  We will also prepare for the Dr. Seuss Parade next Friday by working to memorize Land of Make Believe and continue to prep music for the recital in April.    Thursday and Friday we will discuss musicals and view Gypsy.  Please be sure to work on Banja Luka.

DAY 1

1.  Clean out band lockers.  Collect any holiday music that you may have in your folder

2.  Breathing Exercises:  Take in for 1 push out for 16 counts

3.  Warm up: Concert B Scale and Concert Db:  Long Tones One Octave; Half Notes Two Octaves; Quarter Notes Two Octaves.  Work on Triad, Intervals, and Thirds  QUIZ ON THURSDAY/FRIDAY

4.   Land of Make Believe Measure 11-41  {Look at Rhythms and Articulations}

5.  Banja Luka Measure 1-24  {Check accidentals and Articulations}

6.  Work on solo and ensemble music for April recital

DAY 2

1.  Clean out the uniform room

2.  Breathing Exercises:  Use exercises from Breathing Gym

3.  Warm Up: Concert B Scale and Concert Db:  Long Tones 2nd Octave; Half Notes Two Octaves; Quarter Notes Two Octaves.  Work on Triad, Intervals, and Thirds QUIZ ON THURSDAY/FRIDAY

4. Review reading in 6/8 meter

5.  Land of Make Believe Measure 11-41  {Dynamics and Style}

6.  Review Uptown Funk

7.  Banja Luka Measure 24-61  {Check out accidentals, articulations, rhythms}

8.  Work on solo and ensemble music for April recital

DAY 3

1.  Review for Scale Quiz and prep for scale test

2.  Clean up music library

3.  Discuss musical history and view Gypsy
