Cecil Rhodes, 48 of Bishop's Stortford, died on Wednesday, March 26,1902 in Muizenburg, South Africa. Cecil Rhodes was born in Bishop's Stortford on July 5, 1858 to Louisa Peacock Rhodes & Reverend Francis Williams Rhodes.  Cecil Rhodes was the fifth son of the Reverend Francis William Rhodes and his wife Louisa Peacock Rhodes. Cecil Rhodes played a huge role in the colonization of Africa. Cecil Rhodes contributed to the making of Cape Cairo railway. The goal of Cape Cairo was to help populate South Africa, but it turned into a failure.
