Life of Guru Amar Das

Guru Amar Das was born in May 5th in 1479 in Punjab, Northern India in a village known as Basarke Gillan. Before his guru-ship him and his parents were orthodox Hindus, later in life he eventually got married and had four children. During his 22 years of guru-ship Amar Das preached the equality of women and how they are important, strengthened the tradition of Guru Ka Langar and further abolished the caste system. Lastly , he became a guru at the age of 73 and was a guru for 22 years until he died at the old age if 95.
