Sea floorspreading

  1. In this model, the red in the middle is magma which is rising up thats created the mantle. The magma is pushing the thin tan layer which is under the continets, the brown paper balls which is happening under water and is called the oceanic crust which is formed by volcanic activity. There for causing the continets to not unchange in age, while the oceantic crust always produces new layers causing it to be younger called Seafloor spreading and is at the mid atlantic ridges where new oceanic crust is formed which moves away from the ridge.. Also scientists use the theory of continental drift ( The movement of continents across the earth's surface over time). Which was origainally thought up by Alfred Wegener and how over time contients drift supported by fossils found.
