A volcano is a hole or a crack in the earth . A volcano is caused when melted rocks in the earth rise because it gets hot. Sometimes the lava flows gently and it flows slow. Other times, there is so much pressure that when it erupts it shoots out lava, ash, and gas really fast. Once the lava starts flowing nothing can stop it. The lava flows down and turns into a hard rock when it cools off.
Where Volcanoes Happen
Volcanoes are mostly in the pacific ocean on borders between tectonic plates in the ring of fire.
No one knows when a volcano will erupt until it actually does. Sometimes volcanoes are dormant. They haven’t erupted for a long time. The tallest lava fountain ever was five times higher than the Eiffel tower in Paris.
