The world in The Giver by Lois Lownry is a dystopia because the community do not let people make their own decision.
Jonas’s lives in a community where people can not make their own decisions. Making choices is a human right. In Jonas's community there is no choice. Community members are told what job they will have and whom to marry. They are given children, as opposed to having their own. They can not choose anything. When the Giver and Jonas are talking about making decisions, the Giver says; “We don't dare to let people make choices of their own ”(p[q98). This shows the community <have.> been isolated from making decisions . Jonas even agrees that people making decisions would be dangerous. If they can not choose, they are dehumanised by the prison of the community. Prisoners are not human.
Jonas made the right decision by leaving the community, , because he saved himself and Gabriel because it is a dystopia
My first artifact is my last holocaust entry. I like it because I put a lot of hard work in.
How are you? Have you been freed? I hope the Americans are there soon. It is the most amazing thing I have ever felt. They Americans walking through the gates with all the nazis dead or gone. The moment that you are free and you can go anywhere you want. It felt like the sun was inside me proving god was here for us.
Today the most amazing thing happened to me. We were working in the fields as we heard gun shot. We were used to this. the nazis were killing people all week but, then we heard more and more. all of the soldiers that were guarding us started running to the camps. Then all of a sudden all of it stop and we heard people yelling “we’re free we’re free”.Every one in the fields started running to camp to see what was happening. Then they most amazing thing I have ever seen are those American troops walking through our camp. I fell down crying. This is the best day I have ever had. I am free! The Americans were giving out food from the back of a pick up. People were stuffing their face with food. They looked like wild animals at a fresh kill everyone fighting for every schap. This is the most food any of us has seen in a long time. This is heaven. The first thing I am doing is to go back to my farm take it back from anyone who has it. The next thing I am doing is Having a big ol’ family with a tall blonde with eyes of emerald shining in a summers sun that is the nicest person i have ever met. She loves sports but also she likes people, She is funny but smart, she wild but gentle I could go on on but that would be way too long all you need to know is that she is amazing and I love her. I am going to take her to america because she because she should never have to go through anything like that again. I am doing this because I have realized that life is way too short to put things off. I will live. I am to close to quit now.
My 2 artifact is my South Sudan Essay. I like it because I put a lot of work in and I know a lot about these things and I feel that I spent some more time on this one.
“Never again” The phrase we used after the holocaust, yet now in south sudan its happening again. It all started when south sudan wanted to separate from sudan, the sudanese government didn't want this because of the oil in south sudan. The local tribes where the scapegoat, targeted by the government, China, Russia and other middeleasorn countrys are allso interested with the oil. They are giving the sudanese government weapons and soldiers to kill the locals.
