Learning about online learning communities- what I have learned from others

Aside from understanding the importance of technology, I have learned the significance of the participants and how the peer to peer relationship and learning is very important. Personal reflections and social networking creates meaningful opportunities to learn.
Professional Development: There is so much to learn and new technologies to explore, but who will teach the educators? Administration needs to understand and value the professional development opportunities and make the most of in service days so that educators can benefit by making the most of their time and learn the new skills that will benefit them and their students.

Engagement in online learning: What does it look like, how do you know when you are engaged, what is the best way to communicate and collaborate with others? Thought and energy goes into creating an engaging environment for both the instructor and the students to ensure success in an online class. I have learned the value of activities and how they can promote confidence and achievement in student learning.

Multiple tools are available for collaboration in the online learning environment. Google Drive is what I am most familiar with, but was impressed with the list at the following link: http://elearnmag.acm.org/archive.cfm?aid=2139007 There is definitely enough tools to choose from to meet the needs of all learning styles that may be in your classroom!
