Neil Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio on August 5, 1930. He then attended school at Purdue University, University of Cincinnati. He joined the organization that would become NASA. He joined the astronaut program in 1962. He was a command pilot for his first mission. He was spacecraft commander for Apollo 11, the first manned lunar mission. And then the first man to walk on the moon. He died in 2012.
