So they can save money and produce things to an acceptable standard.

What can a factory do to produce more in less time to help reduce costs?

Get machines to do the work instead of humans, because factories can work at a higher speed that humans can, thus allowing factories to be cost effective.

Why might Cadbury try to reduce it’s workforce and produce at the same level?

Because when they reduce the workforce they can pay less on wages and put more money into buying machines.
