A form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. Government by the people.

Direct Democracy- A form or system of democracy giving citizens an extraodinary amount of participation in the legislation process and granting them a maximum of political self-determination.

Representative Democracy- A variety of democracy founded on the principle of elected officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy.

Some advantages and some disadvantages are that all people get the opportunity to be in the government so that's good, but also a disadvantage is that some people don't know much they just want to vote and they might make a bad decision. In democracy you can transfer power between branches so that a good thing. A bad thing is that the government changes every election so that is a bad thing about democracy.

The U.S and Canada practice this government.

QUOTES: "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." Will Churchill

"The world must be made safe for democracy. Its peace must be planted upon the tested foundations of political liberty." Woodrow Wilson
