The summer provides an awesome opportunity to get our plans together and then hit the brand-reset button and just go for it in the fall, I think!

I think a key challenge will be communicating to and helping to transition the folks that identify us by the DLC name. I see this as a more difficult change for folks that have it in their structure (both physical (bookmarked in their browser) and cognitive (that is what they call us when speaking)). Facilitating the new association will be something we have to be thoughtful about.

Rebranding is difficult as we have both new and sustained clients. Recommend using the new name at the onset of the 2015-2016 school year in a short but to the point celebration of the name change on our social media networks and with those we serve. I agree with Theresa that it will be most challenging to get others to change what the call us. Professional Learning and Leading Collaborative does not roll of the tongue and has the potential of being Prof. Leading and Learning, etc. Until folks will just call us the Friday Institute because they won't worry about the name... but then, do they have to? This is a way to distinguish ourselves within the FI and we will be using the title to introduce ourselves.

Social Media rebranding will be the most tedious and difficult. Suggest closing Twitter DLC profile - we don't use it - and just use #PL2C or something.

Challenge will indeed be the mindset that we are still the DLC, just new name, expanded focus. Important to use PLLC when and where we can now and perhaps things about a rebranding "launch" to send to all our current customer base--have them start spreading the word!

The challenge, as others have said, is that people know name of the DLC and it will take some repetition (and a "celebration" on the social media side, as Jackie noted). There are opportunities, though, especially around the inclusion of leadership in the title.

I don't think it'll be that difficult to "rebrand" because people in the field generally think of us as the FI (or the Friday Center, if they can't keep their universities straight). I think it's more of a brand issue for us, and as Emmy said, just being cognizant of using the new name when we can.

Strange, I'm somehow logged in as the DLC... ironic. Another thing I wanted to mention is that I agree with Jackie about beginning with the new school year. p.s. This is Kaulfuss.

I think ultimately we want to be the FI, but we need a way to talk about, highlight, and share our work. I think the rebranding can be subtle, but with an emphasis on people who refer to us as the DLC. I'm hopeful that this can only make us more known as a critical part of the FI - and from the outside, I don't see a downside to being the FI (more like a division within), as long as the revised FI website easily gets folks to the PLLC. That may not make any sense:)
