Shaquille O'Neal as a young child grew up in the projects of Newark, New Jersey raised by his single-mother, his step-father, grandmother, family, and friends. Shaquille O'Neal was a normal kid growing up in the projects getting in trouble and doing things he wasn't suppose to. Shaq's Coach vs Shaq
"I know that all the other coaches will try and get even with me but I also looked at you as a son."
Symbolizes their Coach to player Relationship
Dale Drown vs. Shaq
"We always wrote back to each other every summer about how my game was going along and what was going on with him.?
Symbolizes their Coach to Player Relationship
I believe that Shaquille O'Neal in the book always foreshadowed that he would go to LSU because of the strong bond he had with LSU coach Dale Brown
I believe that this book reminds me of one of my favorite movies More than A Game. The movie was basically the story of LeBron James. Shaquille O'Neal and LeBron in life basically go thorough the same things and it seems to me that it has a mirror affect. For example LeBron grew up in a bad neighborhood in Akron, Ohio and Shaquile O'Neil grew up in the projects of Newark, New jersey and noN they are successful NBA Stars and businessmen.
Man vs Man
One of Shaquille O'Nea'ls most favorite basketball player Patrick Ewing was really angry that he didn't get selected over Shaq to be on the starting line-up in the NBA All Star game. Shaquille attempted to shake his hand instead his idol slapped his hand and keep walking.
Man vs Self
Shaq had a very hard public speaking problem and stuttered from time to time. Shaq took it upon himself to overcome the challenge. he took a public speaking class when he was in college at LSU and overcame his problem
Man vs Society
When Shaq was in high School and College people who did not like Shaq would make fun of him because his biological father Joseph Toney was not around when he was older. At games when the crowd did not favor him at times they would make mean and un-positive chants towards him but in the book Shaq states that it did not bother him.
The mood of this story in Shaq Uncut: My Story is inspiring.
I would recommend this book to young adults and to a mature audience.
