These apps all revolve around enhancing student learning, whether it be by providing information, or the ability to network with others.
Twitter - Twitter is a social media site that allows its users to interact with one another via tweets of 140 characters or less. It is simple, easy to use, and allows users to share videos, articles, pictures, etc.
Classroom Use - Twitter has a wide range of uses in the classroom. It allows the students to connect with one another, as well as the teacher. It gives the instructor the ability to share classroom material, as well as remind the students of what will be happening in class. Specific accounts can be created for each class, ensuring students are always prepared for class, and able to contact one another.
TED - TED (link to website) is a video based app that shares ideas of remarkable people, worldwide. Covering a broad range of subjects, these videos are meant to share knowledge, and cultivate intelligent thought.
Classroom Use - This is one of my favourite apps at the moment (I'm the coolest I know). This app is perfect for students whom are searching for ideas for papers, or presentations. The wide range of videos available ranges across many disicplines, allowing for a variety of uses within the classroom.
Above is an example of one of the videos TED contains.
Nova Elements - Nova Elements is a free app with three basic features. First, it has an interactive periodic table, which gives in depth information to every element from Hydrogen to Unuoctium. It also has an interactive element based game, as well as a two hour program based on the history of the periodic table.
Classroom Use - This app is perfect for introductory chemistry classes, where students are expected to learn the basic of the periodic table. On top of that, Nova Elements allows students to practice building molecules, enhancing their knowledge of the in class material.
Visual Anatomy Lite - Visual Anatomy Lite gives users the ability to examine virtually any part of the human body, from the skeletal to the circulatory system. On top of that, this app includes built- in quizzes, as well as labelled diagrams of specific body parts.
Classroom Use - Visual Anatomy Lite would be useful for students whom are learning human anatomy, structures, or human physiology. This app allows students to be quizzed on their knowledge, which will help them in learning the course material.

Skill Builder Spelling - Skill Builder Spelling is an app that is effective in building upon a person's ability to spell. It infuses speed with efficiency, as it challenges the user to spell words as quickly and as accurately as possible.
Classroom Use - This app is perfect for students that are just learning to read and write. The program contains a large cache of words, ranging in difficulties, which allows the students to continue to improve spelling, while also expanding their vocabulary.
