Walt Disney: The Man Behind the Mouse
By: Peter Stout
Purpose and publisher: The Explanation
My name is Peter Stout and I go to Holman Middle School. I made this website for a project that we are doing in our English classes. I chose Walt Disney because I think it is very cool that he started his own business and became so successful. I also like sketching random things which is sort of what he did just randomly drawing working odd jobs. He slowly climbed his way to the top. I think he truly is a inspiring person for anyone who wants to start their own business.
Here is a short called Steamboat Willie.

Description: Walt Disney: Career
Walt Disney had several jobs because of his interest in sketching. One of his earlier jobs before the war was sketching for a barber where he would get 25 cents or a free haircut. And what got Disney first exited about sketching was when they moved from Chicago to Marceline, Mo. to live on a farm it was there where Walt began to sketch farm animals. A short time before he decided to go into the movie business Disney signed on with an advertising company where he also sketched to promote different products. When he did decide that he wanted to go into the movie business he and his brother went and founded the Disney movie business and it became successful.
Disney Goes onto the big screen
After Disney's several jobs he decided to go into the movie making business. With him he took his brother Roy Disney and they wen't into the Hollywood business. Working together him and his brother founded Disney and created that well loved Mickey Mouse. Together they were amazing they created one of the first shorts to boast synchronized sound! They also made a deal with a Kansas City theater which aired 7 minute shorts called laugh o grams. Unfortunately the movie theater went bankrupt and Walt and his brother had to go somewhere else.
Disney was very successful at movie making, but there were several other jobs and steps he took to advance his career. During World War one he wanted to be in the army but due to his age Walt became a red cross volunteer. After the war he worked sketching for an advertising company for a short time before he decided to go into the movie business. After founding Disney and doing several deals with companies their company launched and they created several short films.
