Navin Raheja it currently Chairman of ‘National Real Estate Development Council’ (Naredco). As chairman, he has played a vital role in bringing up real estate regulatory act, affordable housing policy of Government of India and guidelines to states for real estate clearance procedures that would go a long way to provide cheaper and organized housing to every Indian. He is also the chairman of real estate committee of Assocham. With the changing demands of time, a need was felt to change the way our cities live and breathe. ‘Smart City’ is part of the same vision to develop cities that provide sustainable growth and are designed to encourage healthy economic activities that reduce the burden on the environment while improving the Quality of Life of the residents. Smart cities must be built depending upon the usability of that location keeping in mind people, job opportunities, corporate options and affordability. He also added that institutional infrastructure, physical infrastructure and social infrastructure constitute three pillars on which smart city rests. Institutional infrastructure refers to the activities that relate to the planning and management systems.
