About Donald Gomsi

For nearly three decades, Donald Gomsi has served as head tester for the California and San Diego Divisions of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). In this role, he helps maintain high standards within the tennis teaching profession by conducting exams for tennis professionals seeking certification with the agency. In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, Donald Gomsi performs as head tennis professional at Carmel Valley Tennis in Del Mar, California.

Prior to assuming his current positions, Mr. Gomsi held the roles of tennis instructor at Barnes Tennis Center and of tennis professional at the Harbor Bay Tennis Club. Over the course of his career, he has garnered several honors, including Pro of the Year from the California Division of the USPTA; Tester of the Year on five occasions from the California, San Diego, and Northern California Divisions of the USPTA; and the Distinguished Service Award from the San Diego Division of the USPTA.

Donald Gomsi attended San Diego State University, where he played varsity tennis for four years and received a bachelor of science in environmental health. He then earned a master of science in biology from the same university while competing in tennis tournaments and teaching private lessons.
