In 1599, the owner of the land where Burbage built his theatre raised the rent in the area. When the owners fell behind on rent, the landlord threatened to take it over.
Movement of the Theatre
One night in January 1599, James Burbage's moved the theatre timber by timber across a river and reconstructed it, calling the finished product The Globe.
The theatre was still being used for performances and plays.
