1. A prefix is when you add something to the beginning of a word. Example: describable-indescribable, can be described-cannot be described

2. A suffix is when you add something to the end of a word. Example: describe-described, To explain something-already described something

3. A root word is the main word that the prefix or suffix is added to. Example: government is the root word of antigovernment
