Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo was an extremely bright student, who his teachers believed was destined to be successful. A clear evidence of his intelligence is his excellent academic background. He graduated from Grade 12 on the honor roll in the year 1976 from Kings College, Lagos, Nigeria. Next, he went on to pursue his medical training from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, graduating with an MB, BS degree. From July 1983 to June 1984, he was a rotating intern at the University College Hospital.
Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo holds an excellent professional portfolio. Owing to his incredible educational background, he got the opportunity to work for reputed hospitals and medical heath care centers right from the beginning of his career. After completing his rotating internship at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria, in 1984; he served as the Medical Officer (Family Medicine) at the Catholic Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. Next, he worked at Tameside General Hospital, Ashton-u-Lyne, England, as a Senior House Officer (2nd on call) in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Some other hospitals that he worked at are – City General Hospital, Carlisle, England; Queen Elizabeth ll Hospital, Welwyn Garden City, England. As a consultant ob-gyn he worked at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Newfoundland, Canada; Dauphin Regional Health Centre, Canada; and many others. Currently, he owns A. O. Sowemimo Corporation. In addition to that, he serves as a Consultant Obstetrician/Gynecologist at the Celestial Church Missions Intl, Winnipeg, Canada.
Activities That Keep Him Occupied
Despite a hectic work schedule, Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo does not neglect his personal life. Whenever he has the time to; he listens to classical music, reads novels, enjoys golf, and plays chess. Other than his hobbies, what takes up most of his spare time is his charitable endeavors. He is actively involved with many charitable groups, like – World Evangelism, Community Respite Services, Medicines’ Sans Frontiers’ (Doctors Without Borders), The Canadian Blind Mission, and Autism Society of Manitoba.
