About Dr David Herzog
An Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Dr. David Herzog holds a bachelor of arts in biological sciences from Rutgers University and a medical degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. After receiving his MD, Dr. David Herzog completed internships and residencies in pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin and Boston City Hospital, followed by residencies in psychiatry at Boston Children’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Today, he remains actively involved with his professional community as a member of several organizations, including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Eating Disorders Research Society, and the Academy for Eating Disorders.
Dr. David Herzog joined the Harvard Medical School faculty 35 years ago as an instructor and became the school’s first Endowed Professor of Psychiatry in the Field of Eating Disorders. Alongside his responsibilities as a professor, he served on the staff of Massachusetts General Hospital as a pediatrician and psychiatrist. Dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, and other eating disorders, Dr. Herzog established the Harris Center for Education and Advocacy in Eating Disorders at the hospital.
