Department of Labor
Acting secretary Seth D. Harris
Getting America back to work!
The DOL's mission is to improve working conditions, advance opportunities for profitable employment, and assure work related benefits and rights. They are working to foster, promote, and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers, and retirees of the United States.
In 2012, the Department of Labor requested $12.8 billion, which could be invested in programs and activities that would fuel economic groth, and would provide expanded training and employment opportunities for the unemployed adults and vulnerable communities.
I think i would lower the budget. Why? Because $12.8 billion is A LOT of money. I think the money could be used better elsewhere. Like on education. If it were used on education, then students would learn more, so they could grow up and get careers, to therefore lessen the need for the DOL to have a huge budget to help them when they're older and unemployed.
