The Tobacco Boom

Could Jamestown have been saved with out slave labor?
In 1619 slave were starting to get imported from Africa on boats for a sentence from usually 5-7 years. This was because they wanted to come to the new world ( North America) because they didn't have enough money to come there selves, or they didn't have enough money to survive on there own.
But as John Rolfe's tobacco crops began to grow he needed cheap labor so he used the slaves imported from Africa. The reason why he used African slaves is because since they were a different skin color it would make it alot easier to keep track of who is a slave and who isnt.
So the answer to this question is that yes without slaves Jamestown wouldnt be the historic town/city that is today.
