Byzantine Empire

The Roman empires main language was Latin, there capital was Rome, their relgion consisted of Roman Catholic, and they controlled the Western side. The Eastern side was taken by the Byzantine Empire whos religon is of Greek Orthodox, they spoke Greek, and their capital was Constantinople. The Roman Empire fell into the "Dark Ages" and was completely gone in 476 while the Byzantine Empire grew strong and lasted 1000 years.....

Byzantine Empire lasted so long because of their organized government, they did not get too big, and their ability to mind their own business

  • Ideas were introduced through trade

  • art work (mosaics)
  • architecture

The Roman Empire contributed toAamerican society by introducing Justinian's Code. Many great monuments of the empire would be built for Justinian,which included the domed Church of Holy Wisdom. Justinian also reformed and codified Roman law, establishing a Byzantine legal code that would endure for centuries and help shape the modern concept of the state. Justinian's Code were laws of the Byzantine Empire based on the "Twelve Tables" of Roman law. They also contributed ideas of art and achitecture and preserved Greek and Roman culture. In 1453 Constantinople fell Ottoman Turks thus ending the Roman Empire.
