Robert Boyle discovered this law with his two friends, Richard Towneley and Henry Power. Also, Robert Hooke, Boyle's assistant, helped discover the mathematics of the law. Edme Mariotte also discovered this law in 1676. You may also see this law called the Mariotte-Boyle law. An example of this law is when a scuba diver blows out bubbles. The bubbles grow as they approach the surface.
