The War In Afghanistan

Haass, Richard N. "Afghanistan is a war of choice." International Herald Tribune 22 Aug. 2009: 6. Global Issues In Context. Web. 4 May 2015

Afghanistan was in the middle of a civil war. After 9/11, the U.S. sought to get rid of Al-Qaeda and make sure the Taliban does not rise to power. Countries involved are the U.S., Great Britain, Canada, Australia, and Afghanistan (along with NATO). American ground troops as well as bombs are being used in this war as are many guns of different types and suicide bombers. 9/11 was the cause for the war in Afghanistan seeing as Al-Qaeda attacked the twin towers, causing outrage to Americans and disgust and disapproval to the Taliban. There really aren't any measures taken to try to promote peace, seeing as the article linked is titled "Afghanistan is a war of choice" and not "Afghanistan is a just war".
