It was the night before Halloween, and everyone was putting the final touches on there costumes and I was doing the same thing. I was going to be a vampire and it was a tradition in our small town to not let anyone know what you were going to be until the day of Halloween. I was putting the final touches in to my cape when I saw a man with a pumpkin head costume on. Or else I thought it was a costume. I went outside and screamed out to the man,"Hey, you know your not supposed to show people your costume until tomorrow." He turned and stared right into my eyes. A bus ran right by him and when it was gone, so was he.I was starting to think that it wasn't a costume.
I had a hard time sleeping that night. When I finally did, I still had the image of that man in my mind. When I woke up the next morning, I saw a pumpkin sitting at the end of my bed. I was terrified. That evening, when I was putting on my costume, I saw the figure again. This time, I tried to sneak up on it. It was standing on the edge of the woods, so I went all of the way around the woods and right when I was behind him, I jumped out and tackled him. I tried to hold him on the ground, but he had incredible strength and got right up. I had bruised the back of his pumpkin head and he got up and bellowed in a raspy voice "You'll pay for this!" Then I realized that under the pumpkin wasn't a head. It was only a candle. Right as I was about to say something, he vanished.
That night, I was nervous to leave my house and go trick-or-treating. I was going with only one of my friends and I knew that if the man with the pumpkin head came, he could easily over power both of us. At the first house, I saw the man standing right beside the house. I told my friend that we should go to another house. The same thing happened at the next house, and the next one, and the next one. Eventually, my friend just said, you know what, I'm going to this house. He stomped to the front door. I chased after him but he wouldn't stop. It was too late.
When he got to the front door, I chased him up and he rang the door bell. Nothing happened. He rang it again and this time the door swung open. Standing there was the man with the pumpkin head. He said,"I told you, you are going to pay."
"What do you mean?" I said.
He responded by saying," Do you have any idea of how expensive it is to get a costume that makes it look like you don't have a head?"
"What are you talking about?"
"The pumpkin head costume I'm wearing! I've been trying to talk to you all night but all the houses I was at you ran away from. You owe me $160 for the damage you did to my costume."
"What! I thought you were a real monster!"
"That's the point of having a realistic costume."
"Never do that again."
