~children of 6 years old can count to 100
~children of 9 years old are learning how to multiply
~learn how to ride a two-wheel bike
~skipping, catching and throwing a ball
~it is hard for children to be still so they move alot
~they practice balancing all the time (some may balance on curbs or other high places)
~children of this age tend to want to only play with other children of the same sex (boys want to play with boys and girls with girls)
~some children don't want to participate in out -of- home activities or get out of their comfort zone
~children can be competitive and may be quarrelsome when they lose
~at ages 6-7 children work better with one friend
~at ages 8-9 they begin to work well in small groups of 3-4
~ children feel like their appearance or cultural background makes them too different.
~children still tend to be self-centered.
~children tend to have their feelings easily hurt.
~they can sulk, pout, and worry
