What is the Nervous System?
The nervous system is a very complex system in the body. It's composed of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. The nervous system is supposed to control and coordinate all other systems in the body and make them work. Every part of your body is filled with nerves. There are over 100 billion nerve cells which are called neuron.
There are three divisions of the nervous system. Central nervous system (CNS), peripheral nervous system (PNS) & autonomic nervous system (ANS).
Anatomy of a neuron
Neurons pass messages to each other using electrical signals. Some of these signals can even bring information to the brain from outside the body like smells, and things you hear. They can receive this information through their neighbor neuron through their dendrites. After leaving the dendrites the signal moves to the main cell body.
