Question: Do all clear liquids cause a chemical reaction with baking soda?

Hypothesis: I think the vinegar will work better than water and sprite because the chemical reaction of the vinegar will cause it to blow up.

Manipulated: I only changed the clear liquid.
Controlled: on each three liquids I will sill use the baking soda with each three experiments.
responding variable: when I add the baking soda and the liquids I will find out if it has a chemical reaction or not.

Materials 1 Baking soda1 bottle of Vinegar 1 bottle of Sprite 4 Water bottles 3 cheesecake pan1 pack of small cups 3 Coloring food.

Procedures1.Gather my materials 2.Get the cheesecake pan, then place it on the table, then grab the little cup and place it in the middle of the pan.3.Then put baking soda in the little cup.4.Grab a bigger cup and pour some vinegar in the cup and then 4 drops of coloring food.5.So repeat the other step but instead use Sprite as the vinegar.6. Repeat the other steps but instead of using vinegar or Sprite, use water.

Water and baking soda- I saw the water go on the baking soda but did nothing. The baking soda was at the bottom and the liquid was at the top.
Sprite and baking soda- When I put the Sprite in the baking soda I saw it do nothing but it bubbled a little bit.
Vinegar and baking soda- When I put the vinegar into the baking soda I saw it foam and I put in more and it foamed more.

My hypothesis was correct. I said that the vinegar would work better than Sprite and water. The observable data shows the vinegar made a chemical reaction, and it foamed . The other two did nothing and the liquid stayed at the top.

A chemical reaction is a change of one substance into a new one that has a different chemical .A chemical reaction can be easy to observe. In chemistry, a reaction happens when two or more molecules interact and the molecules change. A chemical change must occur. You start with one compound and turn it into another.

Vinegar is mostly made from any types of fruit. The most common vinegar found or used is American kitchens are white distilled and apple cider.
Baking soda, is a pure chemical called sodium bicarbonate that is NaHCO3 and that is called a chemical formula.
When it's dissolved in liquid, the baking soda separates into sodium and bicarbonate ions (HCO3)
Vinegar is an acetic acid in water partially dissociates into hydrogen (h) and acetate icons (CH3COO):
The reaction between baking soda and vinegar is actually two reactions, an acid base reaction followed by a decomposition (means taking apart) reaction.
When the two ingredients are mixed, hydrogen icons (h) from the vinegar react with the bicarbonate icons (HCO3).from the baking soda to form a new chemical called carbonic acid (H2CO3).
The carbonic acid thus formed them immediately decomposes into carbon dioxide gas (CO2) and water (H2CO3).

Which lettuce plant will grow faster?

HYPOTHESIS:I think the water lettuce because the vinegar water makes the vinegar water lettuce die like wilting.

Variables:MANIPULATED-1 plant I water with vinegar water and 1 one plant I watered with water.

CONTROLLED-The plants were both lettuce.

1.Pour dirt into the two containers

2.Put seeds under the dirt and then bury the seeds in their place

3.Water one plant with vinegar water and one with water

4.Let both plants sit on the windowsill in the sun

5.Collect data next day

The lettuce w/water grew most.

My hypothesis was correct. I said,"The water lettuce will grow faster." The data shows that the vinegar water plant died the third day."
