eTextbook nº1: HOW TO CHOOSE A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT?

Screenshoot from the ebook: http://musicadventuresmaya.weebly.com/

QUALITY CONTENT

The ebook contents are quite clearly structured: they align with the topic. It also includes some interesting activities, games and videos that are also related to the topic. However, some of the sections of chapter I are not developed, in this case, the evaluation criteria.

MULTIMEDIA

The ebook includes various multimedia features that are clearly part of the content of the ebook. The most used multimedia features are some videos which are all related to some instruments. They make the ebook attractive, engaging and motivating and they are alsoadequately attributed and licenced.

ACCESSIBILITY

Unfortunately, the ebook is not adapted for people with special needs or disabilities; it does not show inclusive practice. Children using this ebook are supposed to be able to hear and see so it is not thought for deaf nor blind students.

INNOVATION AND ORIGINALITY

The author (Biljana Krstic´) has created most of the content and materials of this ebook so, as a result,  the approach to the topic is original, imaginative and engaging.

eTextbook nº2: FRACTIONS

QUALITY CONTENT:

The ebook includes several sections that are clearly structured. Moreover, all features are coherent and supported by detailed contents that aligned with the topic. There are lots of activities and games that allow meaningful learning but I would recommend the ebook´s author to include evaluation criteria. Anyway, it is highly recomendable.

MULTIMEDIA:

While this ebook does not include too many multimedia features, they are enough to make it attractive and engaging since they provide added value to the ebook, and they are part of the content as well. Among them, it is remarkable the video that they provide at the end of the chapter. Moreover, the multimedia elements are attributed: you can see it when you click on the video´s link.

ACCESSIBILITY:

I would say that this ebook is not adapted for people with special needs or disabilities; it does not show inclusive practice. There is not an attempt to be inclusive. It has been thought for children without special needs.

INNOVATION AND ORIGINALITY

The author (Aleksnadra Andonoska) has created most of the content and materials of this ebook so, as a result, the approach to the topic is original, imaginative and engaging. Example of this are the two characters created to explain the topic about fractions: Tom and Anna

eTextbook nº3: LET´S LEARN ABOUT COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES

QUALITY CONTENT:

The ebook includes six sections that are clearly structured and embedded in an index. All features are coherent and supported by detailed contents that aligned with the topic. There are lots of activities and games at the end of the chapter that allow meaningful learning. While the ebook does not include evaluation criteria, it includes an answer key which I have really useful and could be use for self-assessment.

MULTIMEDIA:

This ebook does not include too many multimedia features but they are enough to make it attractive and engaging since they provide added value to the ebook, and they are part of the content as well. Among them, it is remarkable the video that they provide in one of the activities to practice and some interesting links. Moreover, the multimedia elements are attributed: below each picture you can see the attribution.

ACCESSIBILITY:

This ebook is aimed to children without special needs nor disabilities. I would say that it is not adapted for them and does not show inclusive practice. There is not an attempt to be inclusive although there is a great variety of activities that have different formats that any teacher could adapt.

INNOVATION AND ORIGINALITY:

The content and materials of this ebook have been created mostly by the author (Tanya Trusler) so, as a result, the approach to the topic is original, imaginative and engaging. Example of this are the explanations and the great variety of activities.

CONCLUSION

As a conclusion, I would say that the three eTextbooks that I have analyzed include detailed contents  that help an easier understanding of what is being presented. To do so, they are clearly structured and supported by an amount of multimedia resources to achieve a meaningful learning. While none of the ebooks are adapted for children with special needs or disabilities, all of them success in being innovative and original since almost all the materials have been created by their authors.
