The Jefferson Memorial

The memorial is dedicated to the main drafter and writer of the declaration of independence Thomas Jefferson.

The construction of the building began in 1935 an was only completed in 1943.

The bronze statue of Jefferson was added in 1947 four years after the construction of the building in 1943.

Receives 2 million visitors a year.

The building is located on the banks of the Potomac River.
