Bechdel Test

By: James Jones

Women in movies seem to only talk about men...

The Bechdel test is simply...

A test to see if movies are made with women in mind. Most films are made to cater to men's ideas and interest.

What is now known as the Bechdel test was introduced in Alison Bechdel's comic strip "Dykes to Watch Out For."

There are 3 requirements a work of fiction must satisfy in order to be deemed unbiased:

-There must be at least 2 female characters with names

-They must talk to each other

-They must talk about something other than men

This scene would in fact pass the Bechdel Test because though they mentioned Prince and David Guetta, they still talked about another topic which was music.

So to anyone who dreams of writing a screenplay, remember to include females (with names) that talk to each other about something other than men. Women will thank you for it.
