The Mongols, ruthless warriors led by Genghis Khan, thrived on conquest
and built an empire that integrated a variety of ethnicities and cultures which eventually fell to invaders.

- Mongols: powerful nomadic warriors led by Genghis Khan
-Genghis Khan: loved war, rose to power after death of father, joined another tribe that defeated rivals and terrified the people they conquered so they would surrender.

-By Genghis Khan’s death (1227), Mongol empire extended from Persia to North China Sea.
- Mongol conquest brought peace to Asia; they were tolerant rulers, promoted diversity in religion, merchant activity, and artistic creativity.
-Successor- son Ogedei (furthered conquest)

-Kubilai Khan laws separated the Mongols and Chinese
-Many women kept their rights
- Khan allowed Persians, Turks and Muslims into the    Mongol lifestyle in return they introduced multiple religions, art, political, and mathematical help.
-With a scholar-gentry type system of gov. they resisted these laws
-Revolts against house of Yuan followed and groups like the White Lotus Society and outside invaders weakened them.
-Led by a tyrant, the turks created Timur which was short-lived and violent.
