I must confess quite simply that I am a huge fan of Rembrandt.
Here I am focusing on the beautiful and powerful ways in which he depicts Jewish people and stories.
This image is of Joseph telling his dreams to Jacob, his dreams to Jacob. All of the aspects of the scene - clothing, manners, backdrop, the gathering of others - fit Rembrandt's time, not that of the Bible.
Yet, the ambition of the son, the wariness of the father, the tension and problems and later blessings - all these things are as vivid in the picture as they could possibly be in any medium.

Bravo, Rembrandt!
