Igneous  rock

Igneous rocks are cooling magma. This is an process ( it losses heat) and involves a phase change from the hot lava to a solid ash type thing. The earth is made of igneous rock- at least the crust of our planet is. An example of igneous rock granite. Most people have a igneous rock( granite) counter.

Sedimentary rock

Sedimentary rock is debris compacted and cemented together. They are often known as secondary. They are layers of debris stacked up. It is small pre existing rocks. A example of sedimentary rock is marble. Some ice-cream is served on sedimentary( marble) slab.

Metamorphic rock

The name metamorphic comes from the word meta (change) and morph (form). Any type of rock can become metamorphic rock. In most cases it involves heat and pressure.  Metamorphic rock changes  minerals. Common metamorphic rocks  include slate, schist, gneiss, and marble.
